December TBR

Hello everyone! It feels like 500 years since I've actually posted something bookish related and not a bunch of updates on how I've been MIA and not actually posting anything to follow up. 2016 is almost over and I have read less than 10 books in the past four months which is driving me crazy. So today, I'm going to be sharing with everyone a couple of books that I am determined to read before the end of the year. Hopefully I can finish them all!

Most of these books are ones that I've wanted to read for a while but never got around to, or are recent releases that I'm super excited for. I did receive one for review so I definitely need to get that one read and reviewed before Christmas. I threw The Book Thief in just as a reread since I brought it all the way to college with me and didn't read it yet. 

這些書是我已經一段時間想讀了但沒有時間或新出來的書。有一本書是作者給了我所以我需要在聖誕節前讀完和寫我的想法跟大家分享。我包括 The Book Thief 因為我把它帶到大學來但我沒有時間重讀所以我絕對要在2016年結束前有機會重讀他。

Alright, that's my list! I feel like six books shouldn't be too hard but with my terrible slump who knows what will happen. Fingers crossed I get through them all and break out of my slump in time for the New Year!

Planning Ahead (12)

Hello everyone! Last week was my slow return to a steady blogging schedule and it turned out quite good! School is almost over, we have a bunch of review days and finals officially start on Thursday. It's kind of insane that in two weeks I'll finally be done with junior year and the stress of college applications will actually be relevant to me...*shudders* Let's not talk about that yet...

Love Arrives in Pieces by Betsy St. Amant

I'm already a little over half way done with this book and so far it's interesting. I have a couple comments and whatnot but I'm intrigued to see how the story plays out. 

Zodiac by Romina Russell

This book received so much buzz around it on the BookTube community when it first came out and I've been meaning to pick it up. I've read about 30 pages of it and it's super interesting so far.

Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson

I'm trying out AudioBooks! I recently borrowed this from my library and I haven't listened to a ton of it yet. It's actually pretty hard to find time to listen to this since I don't really commute much. I'm trying to listen when doing homework and hopefully cut down the time I'm on YouTube. Hopefully....I read part of this book when it first came out but due to school I put it down and never picked it back up until now...

The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon

I read this back in April and in honor of the standalone sequel The Song of David releasing yesterday I thought it was about time I got my review up for this book. 

The Broken Kingdom by N.K. Jemisin

The Priestess of the White by Trudi Canavan

I'm going to try to review both of these books but if not it will be one of these for sure.

Planning Ahead (11)

Hello everyone! I am back and it's been so long! A quick recap on what has happened the last two weeks: Slumps Everywhere. Yup, that pretty much sums everything up, but school's done in two and a half weeks and in most of my remaining classes we're just doing presentations and preparing for the final so things are starting to wind down. With that said, I'm pushing myself to get back into the same reading and reviewing speed that I was going at in March and April because I felt so motivated and engaged with the blog. So let's start with this week's plan:

The Grimm Chronicles by Isabella Fontaine

This follows a girl named Alice who discovers that she's the next hero chosen to hunt the Grimm characters. These characters have literally been resurrected from their stories and even though they've been written as good characters, they are turning evil as time goes on and it's Alice's job to kill them.

Fire of the Sea by Lyndsay Johnson

It's been a while since I've read a mermaid book and I've been wanting to pick this up for a long time. Considering that my review for this is due this week, I think it's about time I get started...The story follows a mermaid who has a dagger and she's the next ruler of the Mermaids, but one day she saves a human from drowning and disrupts the balance causing her to leave her life behind her. It just sounds really cool and I'm excited to get started.

I'm not going to pile reviews on myself even though I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. I'm definitely going to have the Grimm Chronicles and Fire of the Sea reviewed this week so I'm not going to set anything else up. If I have the time, I'll pick one out of my many waiting to be reviewed books. :)

Planning Ahead (10) + Bout of Books 13.0 Wrap Up

Hello everyone! It's been a while since a Planning Ahead post but APs are FINALLY done which means I can get back into the swing of blogging. I thought I'd combine this scheduling post with my Bout of Books 13.0 Wrap Up since today is also the last day. Even though it's still early I have a bunch of things to do today as well as all my homework since I spent most of yesterday on a bus reading. So let's just get straight into the wrap-up first and then transition into next week's plans~

Haunted Love by Jessica Frances

This should come as no surprise that the first book I finish is not on my TBR...but this is probably my favorite read out of all the books so at least it turned out to be a win-win situation.

 Rating: 4/5 stars

Priestess of the White by Trudi Canavan

I FINALLY FINISHED THIS BOOK! Excuse the CAPs but I was very excited to finally finish this book after reading it for almost 2 months. This didn't exactly live up to my expectations but I'll go into more detail in my review which (sadly) won't be up this week as you will soon see in the schedule.

Mia and the Bad Boy by Lisa Burstein

Oh look! Another non-TBR book. I realized after looking at my calendar that this book was releasing on May 19 and I hadn't finished it yet so I decided to get on it. This is the second book in a series but I think it's okay to read them separately...

I FINALLY FINISHED THIS BOOK #2! That's all that needs to be said.

So overall I think this read-a-thon is a big success. I managed to finish two books that I have been dragging on for forever so that is a huge accomplishment in itself. I also managed to read two other books and start a couple others. 

Center Ice by Cate Cameron

This is also releasing on the 19th so I managed to get started but I'm only about 10% through the book. It's okay, I still have time. Don't have much of an opinion yet but that's one mad squirrel...

Come the Dark by Rebecca Hamilton

I'm participating in a blog tour for this book on Friday the 22nd. I'm about 40-50% of the way through and everything is just a complete "WTH is happening." I didn't read the first book in the series but I have been told that they can be read as standalones. It's good, just confusing.

Planning Ahead (9)

Hi everyone! Okay so I've been failing quite a bit with keeping up with everything I plan to do and I promise it's all for a good reason in the name of academics and education. So AP tests are coming up in the first two weeks of May which means studying trumps reading/blogging. This is the first year I'm taking APs so my stress levels are literally off the charts (I'm not very good at studying...). Anyway, I'm going to start planning and scheduling ahead so I can at least get one-two posts up for the next three weeks.

With that being said, this Planning Ahead post will encompass both this week and next week and the same will happen for the 10th post. (Does that make sense?) It just gives me a little more leeway with how I want to schedule things and I'll try to specify when each post will be up if it's ready. Alright, enough talking, let's get into it~

So I had to go ahead and pick up another fantasy book even though I am currently reading three other books...but it's a lot of shorter and I guess I just needed a break from all the political things happening in the other books...

Just Pru by Anne Pfeffer

I started this a while ago, but put it on hold and it's time to pick it back up because I am scheduled for a review this week (April 26 - May 2). Haven't read far enough to really get a good sense of the story, but I'm hoping I like it cause it sounds adorable.

Dragons are People, Too by Sarah Nicholas

I received a copy from Entangled Teen for review. The publication date for this book is April 28 so my review will be up around that time depending on when I finish it.

Kissing Madeline by Lex Martin

I received a copy from the author for review and I'm going to be participating in a release day blitz on the 27th. Hopefully I'll be done with this book tomorrow or Monday and have a review up around that time.

Paranormal Keepers by Jen Naumann

Just one more quick note and that is I made a new banner for my summary title! Before each review starts, I always have the summary of the book, usually taken off of Goodreads, and for years now it's just been the typed out word "Summary" while everything else got turned into banners. I finally remembered to make a banner for it and thought I'd share it before featuring it on my next review.
