Hey everyone! Welcome to my Tour Stop for the One Wish Away book tour! As always, please check out the other tour stops but clicking the banner above! Let's get started :)

One Wish Away follows Lyra who has known from the very beginning that she is going to become an astronomer one day. Shy and a tad bit socially awkward, Lyra is stunned when she finds that a star as gone missing from a constellation. She's determined to find out what is going on and finds herself in the middle of a top secret government experiment with her father as the big mastermind.

This book started off great for me. I instantly liked Lyra as a character and I could feel her social awkwardness and it felt real. I loved her relationship with her best friend Darren and their late night star gazing sessions were adorable. On top of that, Lyra has a burning passion that you can feel burning within her and it drives her to do all the crazy things she does in this story, but they're all backed by her love for astronomy. In addition to Lyra and Darren, there is also this different between their families. Lyra's mother left them years ago and it's just Lyra and her dad. Occasionally her aunt Stephanie drops in for a family dinner, but her family seems lifeless. On the other hand, there is Darren's family. He has both of his parents there supporting him, but they're struggling financially. Despite that problem, they're still one family.

The biggest problem I had with this book was the top secret government project regarding the disappearing star and turning stars into wishes. Especially that experimental wish which made me want to roll my eyes. You want something subtle? That definitely screams subtle. In addition to that, the big climax as to where the star went kind of represented a downhill spiral for me. Everything seemed unbelievable after that and I couldn't comprehend how some people could even think that way. But that's just my personal thought.

While the center of this book turned out a bit iffy for me, I still ended up enjoying the book. The characters played the biggest part in that for me. When I wanted to smack the government officials, Lyra and Darren's determination and passion saved the day. I don't necessarily agree with everything that happened in this book, but it was no doubt a really interesting concept that took that whole idea of wishing on a star to a different level.

About the Author
Eventually the day came when the voices in Kelley Lynn’s head were more insistent then her engineering professor’s. So instead of turning to her Thermodynamics book, Kelley brought up a blank page on her computer screen and wrote. Somewhere along the way she became a Young Adult author.

Kelley was born and raised a Midwestern girl. She’s not afraid to sweat and fills her free time with softball, soccer and volleyball. (Though you probably don’t want her on your volleyball team.) She occasionally makes guest appearances as a female vocalist for area bands. Music plays a large role in her writing process as well as the characters and plot lines within her stories.

You can find Kelley hanging out at her blog, titled in her name, as well as the group blog she shares with her fellow critique partners, Falling for Fiction. Kelley is a member of the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators.
