Summary:
If Lord Donovan Trent had his way, he would spend his days carelessly wooing the women of London society. Instead, he found himself banished to the English countryside of Cornwall, forced by the decrees of his father’s will to run his family’s tin mines and find a country bride. The last thing the handsome lord needed was a local lass sticking her nose into his affairs, but that seemed to be exactly what Corisande Easton had in mind.
Corie had spent her whole life struggling to help those less fortunate than herself. When she heard that Lord Donovan had arrived in Cornwall, she seized the opportunity to confront him about his family’s mistreatment of the overworked tinners. Donovan and Corie soon found their tempers flaring while fighting to deny their fiery passions—until a secret business arrangement forced them into each other’s arms.

Hey guys! Okay, first off, please do not I repeat DO NOT get freaked out about the cover. Seriously, take a deep breath and calm down. Yes, it's a bit awkward for us teenagers, but I promise you, it is NOT THAT BAD so please don't judge.

Remember how I said I judge book by the cover? Yeah, I was so ready to judge this book as being a heated romance that wasn't really worth my time. I have read historical romances with revealing covers before so this is no different in my point of view. I don't think I've actually reviewed a historical romance with a revealing cover so this is definitely a first. I will say this, for a quite "scandalous" cover, there isn't much scandal the smex perspective at all.

My main reason of reviewing this book is because of the characters. Before I get into detail about them, I just want to say that Miriam Minger did an amazing job creating the characters.

Okay, first Corisande Easton. Such a cool name! Definitely making its way on my list of top names to name my future baby. You didn't need to know that. Anyway, she's a definite firecracker and it's hard not to love her. Some people thought of her constant bickering with Donovan annoying, but I thoroughly enjoyed their arguments as it was very entertaining and funny. She's very passionate about what she does and is willing to go to lengths to protect and care for those she loves. That alone wins her some major brownie points. Again, she's a bit of a firecracker, but that just added a lot of life and energy to the story.

Donovan Trent has vowed never to be like greedy father and is committed to live a life alone. When he journeys into the countryside to fulfill his father's will, he never expected to fall in love with the town parish's oldest daughter. His original intent was to marry her until he got his inheritance and then leave, but as we all know, things just don't happen like that. While the previous sentence portrays him as a total douche, Don is actually very far from one. He needs the money not because he has gambled them away, but because he needs to do something very important and special, but it is for a good reason. When Don and Corie first meet it's like instant fireworks. The two are so oppositely different that there are legit sparks coming from them. Of course, who wouldn't fall in love with the lovely Corisande which is exactly what happened.

The storyline was amazing. Like most historical romances there is a factor of danger that spices up the entire story. Someone wants Corie and her family dead and their attacks are getting pretty darn close and personal. Reading this story sent me back to the days when I was obsessed (still am) with Julie Garwood's amazing historical romances and I have to say it was a great trip down book memory lane.

Like I said before, the scandalous cover has very little to do with actual story. There is very very little smex in the story other than the usual "bedding" which does not go into a whole lot of detail. So don't worry about getting violated by reading this, I definitely recommend it because the characters are amazing and it's very well written!

That is it for my review, hoped you guys liked it and I will see you all in my next post which I believe is tomorrow :)

3.7 out of 5 stars

Foreverly Obsessed,
Riv
