Cover Reveal: Greta and the Lost Army

A fate as unavoidable as love itself…
After spending the last four years trapped in a place of monsters, demons, and magick, the last thing the fierce teenage bounty hunter Greta expected was to ever be back on Earth. But a rare opportunity gives her and the Goblin King Isaac the opportunity to do just that. Now she’s home. With a boy in tow. And her parents have lots of questions.
Although Greta finally has her heart’s deepest wish—to see her family again—every step she takes to reconnect with them drives her further away from Isaac. Greta and Isaac planned for her to return to Mylena and become his queen, but she’s not sure if she can go back to that harsh world, though staying on Earth means giving up the boy she loves.
But a powerful enemy refuses to let Greta escape. A demon who will stop at nothing to destroy her and everything she loves. Even if it means following her to Earth and forcing her to face a fate as unavoidable as love itself.

 Release Date: Feb. 1, 2016

While trying to save her brother from a witch’s fire four years ago, Greta was thrown in herself, falling through a portal to Mylena, a dangerous world where humans are the enemy and every ogre, ghoul, and goblin has a dark side that comes out with the eclipse.
To survive, Greta has hidden her humanity and taken the job of bounty hunter—and she’s good at what she does. So good, she’s caught the attention of Mylena’s young goblin king, the darkly enticing Isaac, who invades her dreams and undermines her will to escape.
But Greta’s not the only one looking to get out of Mylena. An ancient evil knows she’s the key to opening the portal, and with the next eclipse mere days away, every bloodthirsty creature in the realm is after her—including Isaac. If Greta fails, she and the lost boys of Mylena will die. If she succeeds, no world will be safe from what follows her back...

Homecoming: Ruby and the Mayor
“Oh goodness, Mayor Wolf! I didn’t realize you were out here,” Ruby lied, pasting on her best smile. She had known the mayor for years, but she had never been particularly comfortable around him.

The Mayor looked at Ruby and his face softened. “Ah, Ruby Hood. How have you been, my dear?” he asked. Then, he stepped closer to the young couple, extending his hand to Ruby. “You look lovely this evening. That cloak is stunning,” he said, eyeing her oddly.

“I’m fine. Thank you, Mayor. The cloak was a gift from my grandmother,” she said politely, shaking his hand. Then, she took a step closer to Dylan before tightening her cloak around herself protectively.
“I saw the kids and Mrs. Wolf rush off. Is everything okay?”

The Mayor put on his most congenial political face and laughed. “Oh, yes, my dear. Just a small family squabble. Nothing to concern your pretty little head about,” he chortled. He was just as handsome as his son, but in an older, more distinguished way. It was obvious where Kent got his eyes. In his heyday, the Mayor had also been an amazing athlete. The only real trait that set the father and son apart was the graying temples and sideburns of the older Wolf. “And who is your date, Ruby? I don’t believe I’ve had the privilege of meeting this fine young man. I’m Mayor Wolf,” he said loudly, smiling and extended his hand.

Bout of Books 15.0 Wrap Up

Hello everyone! I can't believe Bout of Books is already over!!!  The week seemed to fly by so quickly I don't even think I got any time to read. I will be posting a video either today or tomorrow on my Wrap Up but here's just a post version of the books I read. I didn't exactly get to a lot of books on my TBR, actually I didn't get to a lot of books in general, but it was still fun a nice way to start off the year!

So that's my wrap up! Let me know what you guys read during the readathon if you participated!
I wish I could've participated in more challenges, I think I did two this time which is more than I did last round. I told myself to remember to complete the challenges but over the course of the school week, I just forgot to update and sometimes I didn't get to read a ton so updates seemed pointless. Oh well, there is still next time!

Penny For Your Thoughts: Clearing Out Your TBR

Hello everyone! I'm currently in class right now but my teacher is out because she underwent surgery over winter break and she's in recovery. For the past week I've been reading during class, but today I thought I'm post a little discussion.

Lately, I've been going through my Goodreads to-read shelf and realizing that a lot of the books on that shelf are ones that I don't remember even adding. Being incompetent with technology, I didn't realize that I could mass delete books and thought I could only delete books individually. Of course I was too lazy to actually go through with that since that shelf had around 400 books. 

Then today I clicked on this magical link called Batch Edit and all of a sudden, I could delete books in bulk. It was actually really entertaining to go through all 400 something of those books and delete ones that just didn't interest me at all. While getting rid of my online TBR is one thing, the massive amount of books I own that I still need to read is still overwhelming.

I consider myself to be pretty good at limiting my spending when it comes to buying books. I actually buy more e-books than physical ones because I have a gigantic stack of gift cards for Barnes and Noble and my mentality is that I can get so many more e-books than physical ones with that money. (Don't ask.) I can't even begin to count how many e-books I have and I'm actually afraid to even try. My physical bookshelf is also constantly growing. I have a weak spot for cheap books as I'm sure everyone does and my library sales are the best thing in the world.

The majority of my books are in fact from second hand places and I have this weird habit of buying a book I really want to read and then leaving it to collect dust on my shelf.

Well...I've come to realize that once the book is in my possession, I fall into this stage where I am content that I own the book and then I push it off. Since I already own the book, it can't possibly go anywhere so I can just let it sit there on my shelves while I go read books that I've borrowed from the library.

So the whole point of this post was to rant about my TBR which I think everyone has done as some point. My Goodreads TBR shelf is now at 226 but my physical TBR shelf is still overflowing and growing by the minute. Still, the couple of minutes after I deleted all those books from my to-read shelf did leave me feeling a sense of victory even though it was short lived.

Let me know your thoughts on this topic! Reading back, there are still things I want to say but I'm so scatterbrained that I'll save it for another post. Thanks for reading~

Review: Lion Heart

ISBN: 0802736165
Pages: 345
Source: Library
Publication Date: May 18, 2015
Appearance:

The eagerly-awaited conclusion to the Scarlet trilogy delivers another action-packed and romance-filled adventure.

Scarlet has captured the hearts of readers as well as the heart of Robin Hood, and after ceaseless obstacles and countless threats, readers will finally find out the fate of the Lady Thief.
Imprisoned by Prince John for months, Scarlet finds herself a long way from Nottinghamshire. After a daring escape from the Prince's clutches, she learns that King Richard’s life is in jeopardy, and Eleanor of Aquitaine demands a service Scarlet can’t refuse: spy for her and help bring Richard home safe. But fate—and her heart—won’t allow her to stay away from Nottinghamshire for long, and together, Scarlet and Rob must stop Prince John from going through with his dark plans for England. They can not rest until he’s stopped, but will their love be enough to save them once and for all?

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another review! I have waited so long for this conclusion because I loved Scarlet and Lady Thief so much and when this book came out I immediately went to my library to pick it up. However, for some strange reason, my library didn't have a copy so I decided to wait. Fast forward six months and I got impatient so I went to another library to pick up a copy.

This is the third and final book to the Scarlet trilogy which is a retelling of the adventures of Robin Hood for Scarlet's perspective. I got through maybe 16% of the book and I was already jumping around with excitement just to be in the world and with the characters again. There are so many twists and revelations in this past two books and I was honestly so scared as to what is going to happen to the characters. Each characters has been through so much and matured which happens when you see your loved ones die and you're pursued by a tyrant. At the end of the trilogy, I'm just so happy for all of them.

Scarlet has had so many curveballs thrown in her direction I'm surprised she's still sane/ By this books, she's grown so much and that is definitely reflected in how she acts in certain situations. Nonetheless, she and Robin have this amazing romantic relationship that just proves how people are when they are in love. Robin is everything. His good character just shines through in everything that he does and he still manages to smile and encourage people after everything that has happened. Despite all his feelings of unworthiness, he will be an amazing Earl and I'm so happy for him. This book just makes me happy.

The ending kind of disappointed me. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the action scenes (honestly John you are insane), but the final ending scene lacked that punch that I wanted. I don't want to spoil anything but let's just say there was a certain someone I was hoping to see before the book ended and it didn't happen. The final lines were just so cheesy and unsatisfying that it left me hanging. I still enjoyed the book and I'm sad to see the characters go, but I didn't get that final punch.

#NOTD: Zodiac Inspired (Born Pretty Store Review)

Hello everyone! So I finally received my next batch of products from Born Pretty Store this past week so I'm super excited to share with you guys the design that I came up with. Originally I had hoped that the items would arrive in December so I could do something inspired by Romina Russell's Zodiac but since it came later I just did a look with all the items I got.

Items I Used:

The nail polish takes around two coats to become opaque. It's not super thick or sheer so it's at the perfect in between. My only problem with this polish is the smell. To compare it so something from the drugstore, it smells similar to Pop-a-razzi's polishes which I did a review of earlier last year. The best way to describe the smell is that it smells like burnt plastic which isn't very pleasant, but the color itself is gorgeous.
One coat
Two coats

The metal decorations are a lot easier to use than the ones I got last time. Since it's a star pattern that curves, you can curve it to fit better on your nail. Last time, the metal decorations I used got flooded by my polish, but this one didn't. The only problem I experienced with these decorations were that they lifted quite a bit around the edges and some part eventually fell off because I was using my hands.

My favorite thing in this entire package is definitely the Zodiac inspired water decals. There are so many different designs and I mean they're water decals so you can't go wrong with them. They are super easy to use and I love how many choices you have.

Final Product

I added a Capricorn stamp on my thumb and chunky gold glitter on my middle and pinky for added bling. The stamp is uing the MoYou stamping plate from the Zodiac collection No. 12. On my pointer I used a lion (Leo) and Aries constellation. The metal star decoration in on my ring finger and I arched it over my nail.

I used Wet n Wild's Wild Shine polish in French White Creme for stamping and the chunky gold glitter polish is Sinful Color's Twilight Twinkles.
